Narrowing of L2L3 disk space with irregular sclerotic margins to vertebral endplates either side.
Lysis of the vertebral endplates either side of the disk space is the hallmark of diskospondylitis.
Ill defined, poorly marginated active periosteal reaction - the active nature of the periosteal reaction differs from that seen with spondylosis deformans which is smooth and more clearly marginated.
Note the reduced size of the intervertebral foramen compared with adjacent foramina. This in conjunction with collapsed disk space suggests concurrent disk protrusion.
